THE WEDDING of Kelsey & Waylon: Pre-Wedding in Vermont

I’ve been to a thousand weddings, much like you and many of us, and most of them are rushed. You travel 1,000 miles, or 1 mile, and it’s the gaps and quiet moments and catching up with the favorite people in your entire life who no longer live anywhere near…that are the moments that make weddings worth it, beyond the pomp and fun and ceremony itself.

So for our wedding, we invited families and our besties and a few friends to join for a day or two of prep, field trips, meals, hikes and more prep.

Vermont. Trees beginning to light up in Fall Foliage. Sweet soft rain that would clear up and let the sun shine in on our wedding day. But first, a few quiet busy days of hugs and introductions and celebrating with our favorite humans.

Come let me love you. Let me give my life to you. We teared up, both of us, in our rehearsal ceremony. Because that’s the moment we’ve been waiting for. In my case, for 50 years. In her case, through the ups and downs of life and love and motherhood.

The moment when they walk into your life, and your families and best pals hold you up, together, in a golden circle.
