I, like many, have serious concerns about the direction of Zuckerberg and Meta (FB, IG, Whatsapp, Threads) over the past 8 years. And, just this month, he’s cozied up to Trump, dropped fact-checking, is moving employees to Texas (like Elon) to be in a more “unbiased” [read: more conservative] environ. He’s donated to Trump’s inauguration.
If you follow the money, it’s all about his and other oligarch/billionaire’s dislike for Biden’s Khan’s taking on the monopolies over the past 4 years.
I am close to quitting my personal accounts, though they still hold much community connection for me, and only operating our Elephant accounts in the spirit of offering wakefulness within increasingly corrupt and degraded platforms.
That said, I generally boycott or avoid companies I don’t believe in ethically. Meta is certainly that. So quitting 100% may be coming up, as we did with X, .
If we do so, we will only be sharing internally, to our millions of readers, via our site elephantjournal.com and our free best-of newsletters: elephantjournal.com/best. We’ll also continue to share on Blue Sky, an ethical social platform. Follow us there.
I suggest you subscribe, free, immediately, if you’d like to keep Elephant and “the mindful life” and our independent community of 22 years in your daily life.
We offer an alternative—a gap of inspiration, of dialogue, of ethics—in the midst of this noisy, greedy, speedy world of social media platforms.
