Walk the Talk Show with Waylon Lewis presents:

Paradigm Shift? Not so easily.

This week on our longrunning, ongoing “Walk the Talk Show” podcast and video series, with awards and millions of views over the years…

Waylon speaks about the responsibility all generations have to take steps to invest in kindness, honesty, and planet-saving actions such as avoiding plastic. It’s not the role of one, lone generation to solve the problems created by those who came before them.

“One of my least favorite blind spots among Boomers, or older folks, is a sort of lazy nihilism where they say, ‘Oh, you know, the next generation is so beautiful and they’re gonna they’re going to change everything and save everything, and they care about our earth and everything will be fine.’

I feel like it’s a lack of accountability, a lack of responsibility, and they believe the next generation will fix everything we’ve messed up. It’s a fake way of blaming themselves without actually caring.”

Watch the video:

“You don’t want microplastics in your brain, in your bloodstream, or in our soil—enough of ’em, right? My wife and I live zero waste. That doesn’t mean we’re perfect, but that does mean we avoid plastic and we love glass, bring our own to-go mug, etc.

Twice in the last two days, I’ve gone to a restaurant and ordered to-go. We get compostable, we bring our own glass containers, or both. Both times—despite me asking for compostable and to avoid plastic—they give us plastic-wrapped everything.”

Can’t watch the video? Why not listen?

“ On the other hand, I feel like there’s a lot of naivety. Young people saying they care deeply, but thinking it’s sort of weird that we’re trying to avoid plastic. So, I guess, the responsibility is on both generations—on all generations, right?”

”What I am requesting is participation. Elephant has 13 million fans on social media and millions of readers, but we are only able to bring folks together around caring, fact-based conversation—people who disagree but can do so agreeably or respectfully—if you participate and right now independent media is getting killed by Facebook, et cetera.

They smother and suppress links. So when you go to elephantjournal.com, when you go to elephantjournal.com/best and get our free newsletter, when you go to elephantjournal.com/post and write something and share it—you keep independent media live, but more importantly, you keep respectful conversation, community, and caring facts alive.” ~ Waylon H. Lewis
