Time Doesn’t Care How You Spend It. It Just Marches On.

This chaotic world just keeps circling the sun, spinning on its axis, turning seconds into minutes into hours and days, flinging them off into the universe without a second thought.

Time just keeps marching on in spite of whatever mayhem we humans throw at it.

The days turn into years that morph into a lifetime.

Whether one spends their time being productive or lazy, filled with drama or filled with peace, consumed by love or hate, the world continues to spin.

Some of us live our lives as though we believe we have all the time in the world while others live as though each moment could be our last.

Both are true and neither choice will change our course on this journey.

Because time doesn’t change course—it just keeps moving forward.

A day in a life feels very different in the beginning than it does in the end.

The beginning feels rushed and purpose driven. Our hours are spent racing towards goals and working tirelessly to feel and be seen as successful.

The end finds us slowing down. A sense of wonder and awe at merely being alive takes over. Time is no longer on our side but that makes it all the more precious.

There are millions of different ways to spend the time we are given on this planet—as many ways as there are humans to experience it.

The way we choose to do it has no effect on the passage of that time.

Having more of my days behind me and fewer ahead of me has brought this time traveling adventure into focus for me.

Would I have spent my time differently had I realized sooner how quickly it would pass?

Who knows? Who cares? Time certainly does not.

Some other’s thoughts on my timely musings….

“Time is free, but it’s priceless. You can’t own it, but you can use it. You can’t keep it, but you can spend it. Once you’ve lost it you can never get it back.” ~ Harvey MacKay

“The only reason for time is so that everything doesn’t happen at once.” ~ (probably not) Albert Einstein

“I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo.

“So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” ~ J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring (The Lord of the Rings, #1)

“It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important.” ~ Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince

“How did it get so late so soon?” ~ Dr. Seuss
