The point of corporations is not merely to make money. There’s such a thing as being a good corporate citizen—it’s a shame that Exxon etc is making so much money when ordinary Americans are paying more than double what we were a year or so ago. Of course, the benefit is obvious to the environment—our environment—our air, our water—which requires that we find and use cleaner energy alternatives, and fast. This ain’t a partisan issue—it’s just commonsense. Hopefully Exxon and friends will use their profits to diversify into solar, wind etc…use their power to help us transition to a infinitely sustainable economy, independent of the Middle East.
