Day 3 of 365
Permission to Rest
Give yourself permission to rest.
This is kind of funny to say during a lockdown of a pandemic because we are limited to what we can do already, depending on how you look at it.
But today I did just that, I gave myself permission to rest. I slept in longer than I normally would, I stayed in my pj’s a little longer too, and I actually sat down to drink my coffee.
When I have a day off from work, I always feel that I still need or have to be productive somehow by cleaning, doing laundry, or tidying up and organizing myself by organizing the house. But today I said no, I do not need to do any of that stuff.
Today I felt like I needed to rest instead, and not because I am physically tired either. Sometimes we need to rest the emotional and mental parts of ourselves too, in order to reconnect back to our spirit. In essence, give our souls a rest.
So today instead of staying in the house and feeling the need to be doing, I stepped outside into nature so I could do just the opposite, just be.
Outside in nature usually means hiking with my husband. It’s also where I feel grounded, connected, and most like myself.
So when I give myself permission to rest, I am able to get out of my own way so I can feel whole again.
