.@MaddowBlog: As case numbers and hospitalizations in Florida reach new heights, Gov. DeSantis’ plan largely consists of wishing Floridians luck. https://t.co/IXZGnyF50z

Not exactly a glowing review from the medical profession in Florida but he has been working against them from the onset.
DeSantis has tied the hands of educators in Florida by initiating an executive order forbidding schools to create a mask mandate.

It might be more accurate to say that they are angry and ashamed at the lack of a response to the resurgent coronavirus. He is the governor of the state with the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the country and yet he continues to reassure everyone that everything’s perfectly fine.
He has spent most of his energy talking, and generally avoiding governing.
His inaction has forced the frontline health care employees to work endless unnecessary hours due to his refusal to consider the scientific facts. Instead of supporting their needs and being a champion of getting the vaccine, DeSantis is preoccupied with his campaign for reelection.
He’s got one thing on the brain and it’s politics.
Doctors are working around the clock to save lives. They are tired and there is a shortage of all personnel. The majority of current hospital admissions are the unvaccinated. DeSantis has driven the campaign against Fauci in much the same way DeSantis’ mentor did as our previous president. It would be great if his staff spent as much time on life and death matters as they do dreaming up snarky slogans for their tailgate website.
The tourism industry might want to put their two cents in as well. “As Covid-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths surge around the country, one state in particular stands out as a place you really don’t want to be if you want to avoid contracting the coronavirus.” So says Vanity Fair magazine’s most current issue. Not exactly headline material for Travel and Leisure magazine.

“It is very important that we say unequivocally ‘no’ to lockdowns, no to school closures, no to restrictions, and no to mandates,” DeSantis said last week.
Why? Because he said so. This is the only reason that makes any sense.
“Things are the worst they have ever been since the onset of the pandemic with Florida not leading the nation per capita in hospitalizations.” ~ VanityFair.com
Would it be so far-fetched to have the government following the health care workers lead? They are understaffed and overworked. We’re 18 months in and there’s no end in sight. We need support from the top and it’s just not coming.
DeSantis stirred the pot with all of his anti-Fauci, anti-mask sentiment and now it’s bubbling over. People are losing faith in Florida’s leaders because our government keeps giving them reasons. We need elected officials who say, “How can we support your efforts?”
Doctors deserve that much. Teachers don’t get paid enough to justify the unending demands that have been placed on them because of DeSantis’ recent executive order threatening to pull funding if a school mandates masks.
I haven’t had COVID-19. My husband is a physician and he sees what’s going on out there. He is horrified at the lack of support that health care is getting.
We have been isolating since the onset of Covid and gotten lucky to remain healthy. It’s been a combination of hunkering down at home and having some good luck. To sit back and watch the enormous fail that is Florida’s idea of managing a health care crisis is enough to make me sick.
“The governor has blood on his hands,” says Democratic Representative Charlie Crist.
Maybe he could wash up, roll up his sleeves, and get a little dirty doing the work that needs to be done.
If he worried as much about the state of his state and less about how squeaky clean his image needs to be, we’d be having a different conversation.
Get busy Gov.
