My head is propped up by the back of the bench on the booth side of a table in a local salad spot in Maui. There is an empty green metal chair across from me at this table. There are lots of empty green metal chairs. Between the green metal chairs are light wood top tables with black legs and black feet. Most of the table tops are clean. The table next to me has one leaf of lettuce and one grain of rice on the table. They are casting a shadow towards me. The light being let in is from the big windows that are at the front of the restaurant. The windows have green vinyl clings on them advertising various aspects of their #EATLOCALEATHEALTHY message. (The hashtag is also written out on a window cling on a window.)
Other things one could learn from looking at the windows are that they are hiring. There are five 8.5×11 inch vertical signs, one one every window pane and one by the cash register. The signs also list the benefits they offer, should you choose to trade your time for a paycheck here. Of the listed benefits on their signage is a free meal and 401k matching. One expected, and one not so expected of employment at food joint.
You can also learn how to get their food delivered to you, should you not be able to come in— there are 4 food delivery vendors they work with. They also take American Express. As an American Express user, I appreciate that.
Finally, you will have to leave your dog in the car and put on shoes and a shirt to be able to come in and order your salad and soup at in this establishment.
Should you decide to put on your shirt and shoes, order and sit down, you would also be able to see a sign that offers 15% off your order if you are a member of one of they gyms on island.
As I wrap up this assignment, a mom and a daughter sit down in two of the green chairs across the restaurant from me. They make a nice visual pair, creating a watermelon color palette with their table and chairs. Mom has short pink hair and a calf length pink sleeveless dress, daughter has a coral tee shirt and pink themed, pink pants.
