The Sisterhood of Motherhood. {Video}

Everyone has an opinion, and moms seem to have a never-ending stream.

As soon as I got pregnant, I started reading and watching everything I could, in preparation for motherhood. In the beginning, I was a bit more vulnerable and easily influenced.

I think the moms could smell it on me.

So, I listened to a lot of advice. I took each person’s perspective into careful consideration, weighing the pros and cons, sometimes agonizing over “the right thing to do.”

With approximately 10 more weeks of pregnancy to go, I’ve come to this conclusion: there is no right way.

Everyone will parent differently, the best way they can, based on their life experience and intuition. It’s not bad to seek guidance from time to time, but it’s also important to remember that humans have been having babies and raising them for centuries. We’re not extinct yet, so we haven’t totally screwed up.

So, let’s stop judging others for choosing to breast feed or formula feed, for how they labor and deliver their baby, for using disposable or cloth diapers or for being a working or a stay-at-home mom.

In the end, it’s about how we show up and love not only our children but each other.
