Naamleela Free Jones holds a Ph.D in the history of religions and esotericism from Rice University, with a specialization in Asian religions in America, new religious movements, and contemporary esotericism. She received her B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley, where she focused in South and Southeast Asian studies. The youngest daughter of spiritual teacher Adi Da, Naamleela grew up in the remote Fiji Islands and developed a lifelong love of the great outdoors, a daily practice of yoga and meditation, and an ongoing fascination with popular culture and movies. As an educator, she has taught classes at the University of Houston, the Boniuk Institute for Religious Tolerance, and the Jung Center of Houston.
