If We Were President…We’d End the War on Drugs by Legalizing Them.

Drugs are, generally speaking, bad news. But legality ain’t about good or bad. Rather, it’s about

1) acknowledging they exist,
2) ending the losing War On Drugs and
3) instituting governmental oversight.

This would allow us to:

1) control drugs,
2) keep them safe and, as with tobacco
3) tax the hell out of ‘em.

1) drugs would lose their cool with young folk if no longer so taboo,
2) there’d be no more need for dirty needles, overcrowded prisons (breeding grounds for further criminality) or blackmarket afterdark schoolyard dealings and
3) the new tax revenues would go to addiction recovery programs.
