We Campaign. [We Can Solve the Climate Crisis, Global Warming, Al Gore]

I first heard of the We Campaign through Green For All after the organizations partnered to support the Green Jobs Now National Day of Action. A project of Al Gore’s Alliance for Climate Protection, the We Campaign is working to “build a movement that creates the political will to solve the climate crisis — in part through repowering America with 100 percent of its electricity from clean energy sources within 10 years.” A lofty but essential goal. Most recently the Campaign gained exposure through ABC’s unwillingness to air its latest ad which accuses the oil and coal industries of blocking our investment into renewable sources of energy. (Send a message here to urge ABC to air the ad!)

What can you do to support We? First, simply ad your name to the list of supporters via their website as they are hoping to have several million members by early 2009 to help urge our leaders to take action. There are also several resources available on their site to help you organize We in your area. Don’t underestimate the power of living room gatherings. Recently, down the street from my home in Boulder, we had one of the youngest trained presenters of Al Gore’s Inconvenient Truth slide show, Alex Budd, present to the neighborhood about global warming.

Next week on October 29th, Mr. Gore will also be giving the first ever Power Vote live webcast, in which he will speak to youth, specifically those on college campuses, about the connections between the climate and economic crises, as well as the importance of this upcoming election in general. It’s open to anyone who would like to watch the webcast, RSVP here.
