Product Review: Creative Core + Upper Body yoga dvd and Creative Core + Lower Body yoga dvd with Shiva Rea

Okay, so you’ve eaten all that Valentine’s Day chocolate and drank all that wine, now it’s time to burn off the calories.  Don’t like or can’t afford a gym or yoga class?  No problem, Shiva Rea’s got your answer: Creative Core + Upper Body and Creative Core + Lower Body yoga.  These two new dvds feature one of my favorite yoga instructors are from Acacia; they present 20-35 minutes (depending on which video you choose) of pretty intense sequences.  Both videos claim to be challenging for all levels and they are, though an absolute beginner should watch the videos all the way through at least once before trying them out.  The creative part of these involves a free flowing sequence where Rea basically “cuts the viewer loose” to interpret and move at their own free will, something that can be a bit intimidating for someone completely unfamiliar with yogic sequences and poses (though a lot of fun for the more experienced). Since not a whole lot of instruction is given around how to move into the individual poses, these probably wouldn’t be the best introductory video out there.  However, the sequences themselves are interesting to do, and the opportunity to engage in a more personal series of moves can and will keep the videos from getting boring.  Each video comes with a different bonus segment, which adds to the value of the dvd as well as giving a glimpse of other products.  Each dvd is available from Acacia.
