Superhero Yoga. {Playlist}

Superhero Parents, This Playlist is for You.

This is Cielle, Tiffane’s kick-ass assistant at Bright Antenna Records and a student in our weekly yoga class. Tiffanie is out of town for the next couple of weeks, and I’ll be DJing our office yoga classes while she’s gone.

I had my escape from work last week, heading to Mt. Hood for a friend’s birthday. I’d been anticipating the same sorts of activities we’d done since college: elaborate dinners, girl-talks, late night cocktails. But I’d forgotten one small, new detail: her two-year-old son.

Let me tell you: between lugging the sobbing kid up the sled hill, sticking to the bunniest of bunny hills, and putting his mittens back on for the thousandth time, I really began to understand how hard parenting is, and how awesome any parent is to rock at it so hard!

I’ve always admired my friend, but suddenly I see her as a hero. I know people have been parenting since forever, but for the life of me I don’t know how!

And that’s a bit of what makes a hero, isn’t it? Doing the extraordinary, moving people to goodness, showing that the impossible is in fact within reach.

Whether you are a Mom whispering “I love you” to your temper-tantrumed toddler, a singer inspiring an arena (or dive-bar) of fans, or a yoga student finally balancing in crane pose, you’re a hero, even a superhero, to someone, if even just yourself. Maybe we just need a little Marvel comics to inspire us…

“What is the light that you have shining all around you?”
– Flaming Lips
