Sweet Brown: Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That. {Video}

What a great mantra: Ain’t Nobody Got Time For That.

When considering, “psychic vampires,” or that which does not serves us, sometimes we find ourselves stuck within the dramas, traumas, worries and hurries.

News channels are inundated with negativity and that’s why I don’t watch the news. But sometimes, the news turns a corner and inspires the making of art, inspires song and speaks to aspects of life that is worthy of our attention.

We are exposed to cultural diversity, and in this case, it brings art alive, joy even in the midst of the drama.

This particular news clip of a woman coming from a burning apartment was turned into a song, and comes as a bright gem, a slice of authenticity that helps to remind us to always be our authentic selves no matter the circumstance.

This video also reminds me of the late Arnost Lustig, a concentration camp survivor, who truly looked for the joy, the light, that was hidden beneath the darkness and then made art from it.

The woman in this video parallels that strive for joy within darkness—it was her authenticity that inspired the making of the song, “Ain’t Nobody Got Time For That.”

This is not to mean we should run from all darkness, adversity, or challenge that comes our way—rather take a moment to pause, to access its importance, relevance, and significance in our lives and see if there is light to be found. Ask questions like, “How is this important? Does it serve my life, or the greater good? Can I use this energy to serve myself and others in more positive or beneficial ways?”

So smile brightly and take this mantra into your heart, “Ain’t Nobody Got Time For That,.” Move forward when that which truly doesn’t serve you or the greater good appears—then give all that deserves your undivided attention your most authentic self, and maybe out of that, a poem will surface for you to share with the world.

“Ain’t nobody got time,” wasn’t the only song that’s come from Sweet Brown being on the news and evidently she’s also created a new word, “Kapooya,” —the sound of hail when it’s quarter size.

It seems Sweet Brown when it comes to stressful moments, proves truth and creation of art go hand in hand.
