Proof of a Father’s Love During the Arapahoe School Shooting. ~ Jenna Penielle Lyons

My dad used to tell me that if someone came and took me away, he would search for me until I was found—dead or alive.

I think that it’s safe to say that this dad would do the same.

His son, and his son’s classmates and teachers survived the Arapahoe school shooting; the dad was across the street the entire time waiting to hold his son and texting him to make sure he was okay.

Luckily, the Arapahoe school shooting didn’t kill any students except for the gunman, who turned the gun on himself after severely injuring one of his classmates. According to a CNN article about the incident, the safety measures taken in schools and police forces during a shooting incident helped save the students’ and teachers’ lives.

But this father—and probably other parents—stood across the street while their kids sat in lockdown and waited to see their kids come to safety.

That was when the world wasn’t so big and I could see everywhere. It was when my father was a hero and not a human. ~ Markus Zusak, I Am the Messenger

You can read the entire correspondence on the dad’s blog, which is entitled ALTERNATEKEV.

Blessings to all those involved with the Sandy Hook school shooting one year ago. Prayers and love to Claire Davis, who injured in the Arapahoe school shooting.

Let us all practice ahimsa and loving-kindness and wish for others to do the same. There’s a lot of healing to be done.
