Social Media Affects our Brains like Orgasms. {Video}

text phone man

Five crazy ways that social media is changing our brains right now.

Well, this is fascinating—and kind of scary.

Learn how social media affects our brains through AsapSCIENCE’s latest video.

For example, there’s actually a syndrome called Phantom Vibration Syndrome, where you think you feel your phone vibrating when it never did—which is a clue that technology is eerily beginning to re-wire our nervous system.

AsapSCIENCE also reports that the same part of the brain related to orgasm and love is stimulated by social media use, especially when we know there’s an audience.

More importantly, perhaps, is research that social media triggers the release of dopamine, the “feel-good chemical,” and that the reward centers in people’s brains are more active when talking about their own views than listening to others. (Cough, cough—some unnecessary comments left on blogs.)
