It’s the weekend. Hooray. Let’s play a game, shall we?
This game is called, “Good Idea, Bad Idea.”
Why? Because life is about finding balance. And laughing at yourself. And doing stupid sh*t and then making it public. Wait. No. Maybe not that last part…
Anyhow, to that end, I’ll get you started with a small sampling of my (failed) efforts to find homeostasis, then you can, you know, roll with it how you’d like.
Reflect on how that shows up in your life.
Consider what changes you might make as a result.
Or, conversely, just sit there smugly knowing how very much smarter/stronger/cooler/wiser/insert-chosen-superlative-here you are than me.
|Grocery shopping with four children (two of whom are not yours) under the age of nine at 5 p.m.
|Drinking lemon water after drinking red wine.
|Drinking lemons in other clear liquids after drinking red wine.
|Eating one piece of dark chocolate.
|Eating one (more bar) of dark chocolate…right before bed.
|Drinking a cup of coffee to wake up.
|Drinking a cup of Yerba Matte tea, then green tea, then a cup of coffee with Yerba Matte in it, and then a cup of “regular” coffee. Would things just hold still for a minute? I’m trying to walk here.
|Buying laundry detergent.
|Going to Costco for laundry detergent…and also enough supplies to survive the zombie apocolypse.
|Running either: a) the morning after Girls Night Out, b) with small children next to you on bikes, c) a combination of those two.
|Going mostly gluten and dairy free
for a month.
|Going gluten and dairy free for a month. Then, unwisely, going a little Violet Beauregarde instead, and eating an entire brick of cheese with a half a loaf of white crack, I mean, um, french bread, for (okay fine, before) dinner.
|Practicing yoga regularly.
|Going to yoga, then assisting at yoga, then going for a run, then going to yoga again. All in one day. I think maybe I sweated out the dairy. And the gluten. And possibly also my brain cells.
|Going out with friends.
|Going anywhere 20-somethings are grouped en masse.
|Self reflection resulting in positive change.
|Judging yourself and others, and refusing to change.
|Removing the stick up your ass.
