When a Mugger Jumped from the Shadows. {Poem}

Hamed Saber/Flickr

When a mugger jumped from the shadows,

Child’s Pose helped me surrender

Defeated by another political party,

I took strength from Warrior Pose

As my children went from laughing to crying then

sleeping within moments, I flowed along in Chaturanga

to Plank to Up-dog.

Drunk with power from conquering a competitor

I regained humility by falling in Tree Pose

When the boiler bursted, flooding the basement

Boat Pose didn’t really help

But when my dog couldn’t play dead I showed

her with Corpse Pose
