Ignite Your Soul Yoga Playlist: 8 Songs for Better Flow.

Yoga

Mid-asana, chitta vriti crashing loudly in your mind, muscle fatigue wearing down your patience and disturbing your mindful breath.

What you wouldn’t give for a little clarity.

And then something shifts.

There’s something that happens when a mindblowing song plays just at a moment when you have hit your wall. Often my students remark that a song came on in perfect timing—everything came into focus as the world fell away. During what might otherwise be a challenging practice, the song allowed for flow.

I love me some melt-my-heart, give-me-goosebumps yoga tunes.

The truth is, it has nothing to do with the song, the words, the music, or the timing. This is a trick, an illusion the mind clings to. The music is a tool, just as the breath is a tool, or the teacher is a tool, a guide, to shine light on what the student already knows inside. You have the answers, you have the knowing, the truth of be-ing.

Sometimes, though, it’s nice to have a little reminder. Mid-practice.

Enjoy, lovely, beautiful souls.

1. Oh! Sweet Nuthin’, by Velvet Underground

2. Open, by Rhye

3.  Losing Keys, by Jack Johnson

4.  Aqueous Transmission, by Incubus

5. Dancing In The Moonlight, by Alt-J

6.  Goddess, by BANKS

7.  Patience, by Guns N’ Roses

8. The Universe, by Gregory Alan Isakov

Many, like myself, often do our traditional yoga practice in silence. This playlist is meant to be used for inspiration, when you wish to weave creation, love, beauty, and new flow into your asana. There is no judgment, there are no rules, there is no one way to freedom, to Enlightenment. May we all find the path that allows us the most expansion, the most fulfillment, the most joy, and brings us to a place of love, brings us home.
