Making Mindful Meaning of the Blue Moon.

*Editor’s Note: Astrology isn’t a religion. We’re not sure it’s a science, either. It’s magic, maybe. But, as with feng shui, say, things affect things. So as long as we don’t go blaming our problems on the stars, as long as we assume responsibility for our own actions…well, hell, a little auspicious coincidence and applicable wisdom can’t hurt. And so, with that grain of salt…enjoy! ~ the Editors

We need to ask more of ourselves when it comes to how we receive the messages of this Blue Moon.

The energies of any full moon encourage us to take action on intentions that were set during the new moon of the same lunar cycle.

And this moon is a not-to-be-missed opportunity to look deeply within ourselves—at what’s not working in our lives when it comes to relationships we are in, how we create our homes within our bodies and our communities and the life paths we are currently on.

The numerous planets that have turned retrograde preceding this Blue Moon intensify the expectation of this particular lunar cycle, leaving us in anticipation of lessons we can get from this lunar event.

Certainly Friday, July 31st is a once in a Blue Moon opportunity for a reset.

It’s a chance to re-evaluate old habits and ways of being that are no longer working and to take a good hard look at any glaring red flags that have crossed your path during this month, book-ended by two energetically powerful full moons.

But it’s also a chance to get quiet and receive the tides of change that this full moon signifies.

Sometimes, when we hold an expectation for these landmark events in the skies above us, we create an agenda surrounding what changes we want lunar events to make in our own lives.

This Blue Moon is not gracing the skies to give you precise answers or steps to improve your life but to support you if you’ve veered off course from your larger life purpose.

Consider the Blue Moon as a mindful invitation to receive universal guidance on developing the intentions that you planted during the New Moon in mid-July.

Resist the urge to celebrate the Blue Moon with friends. If you get quiet enough and sink deep enough into the seat of your soul, what you need to act on to manifest your intentions will become clear.

The Blue Moon energies support us in connecting with that sacred sense of intuition needed to bring our intentions to fruition.

I spent the first full moon of July out in the middle of a technology-free beach-side wilderness. Without the literal human chaos of city life, I was able to sit out in nature meditatively and watch the rise and peak of the full moon in the sky.

It was a powerful moment to gather the most sacred lunar lessons free from noise pollution, light pollution and, most significantly, human agenda that we are so accustomed to. My only option in that moment was to recognize what feelings being under the lunar light triggered both physically and emotionally and to acknowledge the lessons I gathered from those feelings in the context of my life’s current course.

The full moon does not occur to tell us what to do to reach perfection, but if you come into a mindful state of being you can quite possibly receive somatic and intuitive insight.

For your own Blue Moon Party take the chance to sink into yourself, into soul. To get quiet and listen to the messages that may be there.

Spend some time out in nature with your body touching the earth.

When we are out in nature, we can connect directly with how the full moon was experienced by our ancestors in a sacred way across many cultures.

Let the light of the moon humble you and guide your on your way.
