Believers in Love.

couple relationship vintage

One thing about love—it can feel like it’s never meant to stick around.

That when we think we’ve found it, when we’re walking on air and our eyes sparkle in the morning, something unforeseen happens.

But we carry on. We still believe. Even though this, that or the other was never part of our dream, we believe in the power of love. We believe in miracles. We believe in the magic we put in another’s eyes.

And soon, our hearts break but we don’t let them. So scary is the thought—what we thought was love is more about ourselves than love itself, we force it.

And yet, somewhere deep, it’s not forced at all is it? There’s something there. Something that brings us back to their eyes when we’re quiet at night.

We believe in love.

And perhaps, in the face of how wrong we’ve gotten it over and over again—how we’ve hurt people, had our eyes closed while others begged us to see them, how we’ve fought ourselves—perhaps that is the biggest testimony for the indescribable, unexplainable, intangible thing we call love.

Because no matter how many times we think we’ve found love only to lose it, we still believe.

And some part of us knows that no matter how much we lose in our quest, there’s another part of us—some place still unknown to ourselves—that is yet to be discovered.

Waiting to be awoken by a touch that says “I’m staying.”

And it will.
