Yesterday superstar actress and activist Emma Watson announced that she intended to start a feminist book club.

It didn’t take long for her announcement to bear some fruition as the site is now up and running on Goodreads. Here is the announcement Watson posted on Twitter yesterday:

After asking her Twitter followers to help her come up with a title for the book club, she decided on Our Shared Shelf a submission from Twitter user @emilyfabb:

The group already has over 1,000 members and is growing by the minute. You can join here.

Books included on Emma Watson’s approved booklist include: Wild by Cheryl Strayad, Love Letters to the Dead by Ava Dellaira and The Opposite of Loneliness by Marina Keegan. However, the first book added to Our Shared Shelf, just minutes ago is My Life on the Road by feminist icon Gloria Steinem.
