“I’d look her right in that fat, ugly face of hers.”

hillary clinton's political ad

“I’d look her right in that fat, ugly face of hers,” begins Hillary Clinton’s latest ad.

The viewer watches as young girls look at themselves in the mirror while Donald Trump spews nasty insults at various women.

The video is short and hits like a gut punch.

“She’s a slob.”

“She ate like a pig.”

“A person who’s flat-chested is very hard to be a ’10’.”

The ad continues with an excerpt from a Howard Stern interview with Trump, where Stern asks, “So you treat women with respect?”

“No, I can’t say that either,” admits Trump.

It ends with the valid question:

Is this the president we want for our daughters?

The ad comes on the heels of a New York Times/CBS News poll that revealed only 11 percent of women believed that electing Trump would be a positive move for women.

The ad encapsulates the unique, baffling polarity of this election season and leaves this viewer wondering:

How can the United States have a woman on the presidential ballot for the first time ever, while also having a man who seems to hate women (not to mention immigrants)?

How do I explain this to my daughter? To my son?

How can we have come so far, while also seeming to fall backwards to an era of unabashed racism and misogyny?
