This can be Us. {Poem}

“I want more,” I say to him.

Let me slurp life from a golden goblet
I want to be set on fire
And burn everything that I come near
“Witch!” They’ll probably say
But I’ll awaken their souls

Let’s strip our illusions
Forget about a perfect life
One that’s blanketed by safety nets
With insurance and bi-weekly paychecks

Open your sleepy eyes
And watch the colors dance across our horizon
For there is a world to see!

Can we just say f*ck your student loans and blow this joint?
We’ll make money flipping pancakes on the Sunshine Coast for all I care
Let’s escape to somewhere beautiful
Where you’ll finally feel inspired to make your music
And I’ll teach sunrise yoga to monkeys on the beach

I want to taste the salt water on my tender lips
Bask in the warm sand
Dance to the sound of the waves crashing against the shore

We’ll write poetry naked
Roast our own coffee
Skinny dip in the ocean
Sleep under mosquito nets
Taking and breathing every bit of life in

That can be us

I’m ready to roll around in my own truth
Even if it makes me cringe

What about you?
