Soak in the Moments. {Poem}

Sometimes we need a moment to soak in things.

Like the black sand shore break and white sea foam.
Or the songs of coqui frogs so loud you can hardly find sleep.
But who needs sleep with all this space to roam?

Sometimes we need a moment to soak in things.
Like the lessons land has taught you long after you’ve left her side.
And the thoughts you fill my mind with, long after my love is no longer blind.

Sometimes we need a moment to soak in things. Like the way you break a heart.
How every word your mouth wove in anger
Has a funny way of looking a lot like art.

Sometimes we need a moment to soak in things.
Like a bad decision.
You need a while to live in it, before you realize it’s time to make a revision.

Sometimes we need to soak in things.
Like salt dried to your skin from the sea.
A sticky warm reminder;
I am always where I am exactly supposed to be.

Sometimes we need to soak in things.
I call this kind of soaking; life.
And if you don’t soak long enough,
I can promise you’ll want to go back and do it right.

Take your time. Take a soak.
Live it up. Stay woke.
