Our world seems to be roiling in hate & fear. But I’m relaxed. Why? ~ Waylon Lewis

Our world seems to be roiling in prejudice, in nationalism, in accusations, in anger, in fear, in greed getting its way, in breaking the law, in tearing up agreements with friends and cozying up to enemies.

But I’m relaxed. Why?

Because there’s an easy way to fix it: vote. Vote in such overwhelming numbers that women are elected, we can fix gerrymandering so it’s fair for all citizens, undo Citizens United, and return civil discourse to our nation and world.

Vote. That’s it. Vote in such overwhelming numbers that those who would support voter suppression or voter hacking or exploit divisions in social media…crawl back under their rocks.

Vote.

Anger won’t get us there, unless there is the ballot box. Anger creates more anger, like trying to fix a tight neck by making it tighter.

Don’t yell in ALL CAPS on social media. Don’t further divide in real life. Don’t fall into hate—breathe.

Use your anger and heartbreak and trauma for good: vote and, now, right now, today, message your friends and acquaintances and colleagues. Make sure all those we know have registered to vote. It’s proven that social encouragement affects would-be voters more than letters like this one.

Use your energy to effect change—channel it, don’t waste it in anger.

PS: if you want ALL CAPS:

40 YEARS OF KAVANAUGH.
THIS IS WHAT PARTISANSHIP AND DECLINING TO VOTE FOR THE “LESSER OF TWO EVILS” GETS US:
THE GREATER OF TWO EVILS.
