Sometimes “I love you” isn’t sealed with a kiss,
Wrapped up pretty in ribbon and twine.
Sometimes it comes in shiny gold paper,
But is filled with darkness inside.

Sometimes “I love you” doesn’t come with a ring
And a promise of forever and “I do.”
Sometimes it starts with a sweet little daydream,
But ends with a heart broken in two.

Sometimes love is messy;
Sometimes it’s hard to find.
Sometimes it walks right up to you
With an attractive smile of lies.

Sometimes “I love you” leads to despair,
Broken promises, and shattered dreams.
Sometimes it leaves you dazed and confused
Because rarely is love what it seems.

Sometimes “I love you” leaves you in pieces
That you pick up with each ebb and flow.
But with every wave you’re learning that
Sometimes loving means letting go.
