5 Steps to Practicing Radical Self-Love.

It’s mid-February and we just passed an explosion of pink hearts and roses everywhere.

But true, unconditional love—that’s something that we can’t decorate with Xs and Os.

Here are my five steps to practicing radical self-love always:

1. Healing rituals.
I have spent the last year part of a mastermind group that met in person on three incredible retreats. At each retreat, we had massive amounts of healing rituals. From simple meditations, to sound healings, visiting indigenous places, group acupuncture, essential oil rituals, bio tuning sessions, kundalini, and more. There are so many different healing modalities that you can practice right in your own home, or close to home.

My best advice is to get to a healer. Pick one or more, and allow for someone else to assist you in the healing process. Our wounds are deep and most of us don’t even know how far they go. When we seek outside help, they can see more than what we can see.

2. A Feel-good self-care practice.
For the rest of this month (and year, if you can swing it), commit to three feel-good self-care practices that you can practice weekly. For example, a massage, a mani/pedi, a long hot bath with rose petals, a kundalini kriya.

Taking the time for you is so important. All I hear in my acupuncture practice all day long is, “I don’t have time for that.” But you do! Time is an illusion, and when we want it, we go get it. So block off your calendar right now for 1-2 hours in the next three weeks of “me time.”

3. Mirror work.
Mirror work is one of my favorite, yet hardest things to do. It is based on a book by Louise Hay called, Mirror Work. You literally stand in front of a mirror and have conversations with yourself. Beautiful ones, not ego-based ones. “I love you” and “I forgive you” are the best ways to begin.

At first, it will be the most awkward thing you will ever do. But then it will start to get easier until you truly can look in the mirror and be so in love with the person staring back at you! Super powerful.

4. Practicing forgiveness.
This is a tough one, but it is the greatest gift you can ever give yourself! Forgiveness is a release—from the past or a person. From things that you are ready to let go of and energies that no longer serve you. A lot of people don’t realize the value of forgiveness. They think giving someone a “pass” will not allow for their feelings to be valid, but the truth is, forgiveness is for you.

It’s a way to let go and move on, and not allow for that old, stagnant energy to have a hold on you. Forgiveness of self, as we practice in number three, will help you to be able to forgive everyone.

5. “I am” affirmations. (My absolute favorite because it is so easy.)
Did you know how powerful the words “I am” are? “I am,” followed by anything, is vital power. It moves the universe to shift the energy of those words. When you follow “I am” with beauty, love, light—you are calling in those things. I am beautiful. I am love. I am light. I am happy.

These are all statements that may or may not be true for you—yet. But we are retraining our minds to match up with the feeling. This is the best way to get ourselves into a feel-good radical way of being.

Love these tips and seeking more? I am hosting a Radical Self Love Day at my Montvale, New Jersey office on February 29, 2020, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. This day will be filled with an in-person experience of massive healing and transformation filled with love, sisterhood, and bonding!
