I am Not my Traumas. I am Not my Scars. {Poem}

I am not my fears,

Tucked tightly in my chest.

I am not my thoughts,

Invading my mind with self doubt.

I am not my traumas,

Those kept secret and those shared.

I am not my worries,

Waking me from precious sleep.

I am not my scar.

I am not my body.

I am not my hips and lips.

I am not the quiver in my voice when I’m recalling something sad.

I am not the sum of opportunities taken.

I am not the sum of chances I chose not to take.

I am a light.

I am a vessel that holds endless possibilities.

I am my own creation.

Lovingly created with each brush stroke of my choice.

Ever evolving on the canvas of life I’ve been given to paint.

A continuous and living work of art.

I am kindness.

I am love.

I am beautiful.

I am my own place to belong.

I am unfettered growth.

I’m a safe landing for those I love.

I am.
