If I asked you Sweetly. {Poem}

Pixabay/Pexels

If I asked you sweetly,

Would you stay,

Would you pray,

Would you lay with me?

If I emptied the contents of my heart

And laid them in your hands,

Would you hold them close and cherish them

Or let them slip through your fingers like sand?

If I wrote you a poem

So beautiful it made you cry,

Would you sweep me into your arms

Or would you grow cold and say goodbye?

If I asked you sweetly,

Would you stay,

Would you pray,

Would you lay with me?

The world can seem so lonely.

I need you by my side.

A confidant, a true companion

Someone in whom I can confide.

Please be my someone.

Let me place my hand in yours.

Let me lay my head on your chest.

Let my history before you become a blur.

If I asked you sweetly,

Would you stay,

Would you pray,

Would you lay with me?
