And then the sky opened.
The stars peered through the clouds
while the moon slowly awoke,
as we craned our necks
to witness the glory.
You told me I am beautiful.
I needed to hear that.
On the coldest desert night,
I found my fire,
amongst the cacti and red cliffs.
I found my spark.
I have never felt happiness like this,
sweet and natural freedom
from stereotypes and responsibility.
I hope I never forget this feeling.
If I do,
I will return to the wild,
to let her remind me
of my rebirth.
