A Nonbeliever’s Prayer for Tough Times.

I wrote this piece few years ago in an attempt to pick myself up from many headwinds that were coming my way.

Life was happening in full force, and I found it hard to find myself. I’m sharing to remind all of us to love ourselves more and believe in ourselves more.

There was nowhere to turn to, so I looked up at the sky,
The space and the light—it gave me replies.
Hoping for something I didn’t understand,
Something that may be mine, my miracle, my wonderland.

Everything I knew, I didn’t know anymore.
Every faith I had, questioned to the core.
More questions than answers, every time I pray,
Why God (or whatever!) why me, why this, and why now, I splay.

Dear God (or Someone, Something), please take control, as I know no more;
I’m tired of all the chores, running around, and flaws.
Show me how it’s done, what to look for in darkness.
Please take me back to the path, faith in you regardless!

I promise to look for the lesson,
Hold me up, love my essence.
I will keep searching, until I find,
The Worrier I left behind.
I will change the plot and make the twist,
It’s my story, I refuse to subsist.

As I pray, I hear the voice,
“The God is in you, it’s your choice.”
