Chadwick Boseman has died at the age of 43. Unbeknownst to most, he had been battling colon cancer since 2016.
Boseman was perhaps best known for his portrayal of the Black Panther—in the first black superhero movie. He also portrayed Jackie Robinson in the movie “42,” James Brown in “Get on Up,” and Thurgood Marshall in “Marshall.”
He was committed to representing and portraying the great African American men of history—and the great black men of fiction, of the superhero world, of legend. He was committed to social justice, to righteousness, to the cause of equality.
He is a true loss, and he will be missed by many.
He attended Howard University and spoke at the Commencement ceremony in 2018. No surprise, it was powerful and genuine and inspiring. It brought me to tears.
RIP, Chadwick Boseman. Gone way too soon.
