In Acceptance of Pain {Poem}

Photo by Lukas Rychvalsky on Pexels.

Today

I won’t pull myself out of the funk

It’s not rumination

Or unhealthy

Or dwelling

Today I will have compassion

For myself

For my pain

For my struggle

Today I will look upon the ugly side

Unblinking

Unflinching

Today I will accept where I am

Today I will sit by my own bed side

And hold my own hand

Today I will give myself a shoulder to cry on

Without advice of how to shrink, hide

Box up, or diminish pains

Today I will let fear come, unbidden

And stay, unchastised

Today I will be human

And love, wholly, all my sides
