Welcome. And congratulations. You made it here and that is something to be proud of.
We have all been hurt. Unfortunately, it’s just a part of life.
Whether the hurt was physical, mental, emotional, financial, spiritual, or something else—it is not your fault when other people hurt you.
However, it is our responsibility to take ownership of our experiences and determine whether we will build walls in fear or choose to recover and grow in love.
I do a lot of inner work to stay soft and open and not let the hurts I have experienced or the fear of being hurt again make me hard.
Being fully alive is important to me, and it means being completely open to life and not letting fear scare me into playing it small. Acknowledging our wounds and our limits is an important part of the process of stepping into our power. When we choose to own our story and live with our whole hearts, we make the transition from victim to victor.
I write for those women who do not speak. For those who do not have a voice because they were so terrified. Because we are taught to respect fear more than ourselves. We’ve been taught that silence would save us. But it won’t. ~ Audre Lorde
Art, and music specifically, can be a power tool for transformation. It connects to us on a primal, emotional level and allows us to fully experience a range of humanness, moving through challenging times rather than becoming stuck and stagnant within them.
These are the musical friends I have leaned on in my recovery and it is my hope that they will bring you comfort and strength as well.
