The Hidden Wonders of Wheatgrass.

Wheatgrass juice came into my life when I was in college.

I was spending money on coffee each morning while prepping for research, writing, and exams as an English major. Coffee made me more on edge though and anxious. I wanted an alternative way to feel energized, and I looked into other things. Surprisingly, wheatgrass juice was the number one way I found which would compete with coffee.

I entered a small juicing shop in my hometown, and the rest is history.

It was sitting on the shelf, green and thick. Most people require chasers like orange juice after taking just a shot of it. I tried it, and I tried it again. It didn’t taste too bad either, especially with the orange juice combo.

Daily, I was feeling more energized, awake, nourished, and happy. My focus was stronger on schoolwork, and I was ready to take on anything. I found it not only lifted my mood, and there was no crash. There were no addictive qualities. I could trust what I was consuming to be healthy for me in all ways.

I still use it today.

Here are the reasons why a shot of wheatgrass juice is a great way to start your morning routine:

1. A shot of wheatgrass juice beats coffee.

In the morning, we wake up and look for energy.  When we drink wheatgrass, we’re essentially drinking chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is concentrated in wheatgrass. It improves our health and helps us fight illness. Chlorophyll has a similar chemical composition as hemoglobin; a red protein responsible for transporting oxygen in the blood of vertebrates, the backbone, or the spine. This is why so many cancer patients start drinking wheatgrass.

When will you feel the energy? 15-20 minutes for the full energy effect.

~Bonus: DIY Wheatgrass Recipe

Use 30mls of wheatgrass.

If you would like to make it tastier, add it to your blender with a base.

The base can still be orange juice—or you could try pineapple juice, apple juice, watermelon, carrot juice, or anything you like. Some swear by coconut water. Coconut water hydrates, gives us potassium. and makes the juice taste better. Pick from any of these base combinations and blend it all together until it is a liquid.

Whatever way we want to drink it, our bodies will thank us

Wheatgrass will change your life, as it did mine. I’m happier, more refreshed, and more inspired to live life. It turned a lot around. I believe it is one of the best things to do for ourselves.

Life is all about love, and that includes self-love. If we want to feel awake in the morning and love ourselves a little more then take care of ourselves with some wheatgrass juice. The hidden wonders of wheatgrass will come to light the longer we drink it.
