It’s Elephant’s 19th Birthday. That’s a strange number—has it really been so long? The first six years, we were a small, then growing eco-print publication. I dropped off magazines by bike, then we went regional, then national. Then, I jumped online, losing my staff, and advertisers, and house (nearly, to foreclosure) in the process. Then we rebuilt, over the years, online, to reach millions of readers a month.
Today, with 34 caring staff (editors, sales, HR, developer, Elephant Academy), we’re both stronger and more stable, and more dependent on you than ever.
We want to be dependent on you.
When you subscribe, we’re less dependent on Facebook, with all of its bad-for-society issues, or on big bad advertisers (we love working with good mission-driven advertisers). When you subscribe, our articles are truly independent—we exist only to serve, you and our mission, to be of benefit, to be helpful, to be true.
Please subscribe. This is not just an editor’s letter—it is a plea. If you subscribe, you can read unlimited, and Elephant will continue. If you already subscribe, you can gift a subscription. Please do—it could help influence a life of a loved one for the more mindful. If you subscribe, get your money’s worth by reading and opening this free newsletter, or getting our iPhone app free.
Today, from this letter, we need $8,000 of new subscriptions. I don’t think any letter has ever resulted in more than $5,000. Please consider giving Elephant a 19th Birthday gift:
