The most meaningful Christmas gift I ever received wasn’t fancy, or expensive, except perhaps in context.
The most meaningful Christmas gift I ever received was a game of Risk. I was in love with the game, having played it up at RMDC, camp, but we didn’t have it at home, and we were broke. My mom got it for me, that Christmas, even though, sometimes, we didn’t have money for basics. But as I’ve written elsewhere, we had happiness, kindness, a simple home of affordable antiques and the like.
Anyways, so: Christmas isn’t about gifts, exactly. Gifts aren’t about gifts. They’re about meaning. About thinking about the other person.
In that sense, what’s the first thing you think of when you’re asked “what’s the most meaningful Christmas or Holiday gift you ever received?”
