How can you have a song of victory if you have never had a battle?. How can you have a message if you have never had a mess and how can you say you have a testimony if you never had a test?.

Life is full of battles and challenges but God reassures us of victory. We want to sing a song of victory but we don’t want any challenges. We want to go to heaven but we don’t want to die. You love traveling overseas but you hate flying.

Many of us have read the book of Ruth and when you talk about Ruth, we can see a virtuous woman, committed to her mother-in-law to the end and we can talk about a love story too. But in this blog, I want to talk about Naomi. I want to talk about a woman that lost everything and was shattered and hopeless. Many of us can relate to Naomi and can understand why she is singing a song of defeat.

This woman left her country with a husband and two sons to where he believed there was a green pasture like most of us left our place of birth to a better place. We are full of hope and we have a big dream and all of a sudden we realize that it’s not that green on the other side. Naomi left Moab after losing her family. She came back home empty-handed, at least, she thought so but God has a plan. Many of us dreamt of coming back to our hometown with money and all sorts of goodies to show that we made it and that will make us feel good and assure ourselves that it was worth leaving home in search of green pasture. Naomi’s case was different. She was devastated coming back home.

Naomi was embarrassed and sad to see her friends. The friends were so happy to see her but before they can show happiness for the reunion, Naomi could not hold back her tears and keep up the appearance as most people will do because of shame…
