How to Tune up your First Chakra & Get an Extra Dose of Confidence.

First Chakra

If you’re not familiar with the world of chakras, you may be surprised to find out that the chakra system originated in India between 1,500 and 500 BC.

Imagine! This fact alone gives it credibility, don’t you think? I mean something that old couldn’t just be weird, woo-woo stuff.

All I know is that despite how miserable I may be feeling on any given day, tuning up my chakras revives my spirit and gives me the gift of emotional and mental balance, confidence, healing, and inner strength. My heartfelt hope is that you will find it helpful in your life, too.

Although there are seven basic chakras, this article primarily focuses on the First Chakra.

Future articles on Elephant Journal will feature the uniqueness of the other chakras and what each one can bring to your life.

When I was first introduced to chakra healing over 30 years ago, my initial reactions were skepticism, discomfort, and “run out of the class quick.” I was also curious and fascinated.

Over the years, I opened my mind to this personal growth, inner, visual, and meditative approach, and I am always amazed at the transformation that swooshes through me in less than 15 minutes.

I could be feeling miserable, out of balance, overcome with lack of confidence, and depressed, and after tuning up my chakras, a transformed, stronger, lighter, more confident, perfectly imperfect person takes over.

How did I go from a skeptic to a chakra healing advocate? Since I am an author, composer, sound healer, and a spiritual creative arts educator, I decided to add my own creative ideas to its basic foundation.

Because I gave this life coaching tool my own spin, my chakra twist quickly became a transformational healing balm to my body, mind, and spirit.

As I embraced the world of chakras and found a way to make this holistic approach creatively interesting, I discovered that there were three elements that chakra healing requires of us.

Imagination, intuition, and trust.

Spiritual concepts can’t be seen by the naked eye. They are sensed. It is our intuition and not the human eye that can see, sense, and feel each chakra.

Introducing the First Chakra.

The first chakra is a symbol for stability, rootedness, security, stamina, and strength. This powerful “wheel of spinning energy” swirls around the base of the spine, pelvic floor, soles of your feet, first three vertebrae, bladder, and colon.

If the first chakra isn’t buzzing and whirring with zing, it may be difficult to achieve our dreams or everyday tasks with the amount of strength and stamina we need.

We can be talented and have all the dreams in the world. Despite all these positive gifts and intentions, if the first chakra isn’t tuned up, it may be challenging to manifest the kind of day or the kind of dreams we visualize and desire.

Mystical Juggling Exercises I and II: Energy Healing and Color Therapy.

Close your eyes and place your focus on the base of your spine, soles of your feet, pelvic area, first three vertebrae, bladder, and colon. With one hand moving in a circular motion slightly above the lower areas of your body, imagine the color red swirling around each area. See it pumping Chi and rooted energy up through the bottoms of your feet and continuing up through the rest of your body.

Mystical Juggling Exercise III: Positive Affirmations.

As your hand moves in a circle and you continue to imagine the color red swirling around the first chakra, add positive affirmations to your multi-dimensional experiences.

First Chakra Positive Affirmations:

 >> I am one with the rooted energy of the earth.

>> I am grounded, strong, and empowered.

>> Every step I take vibrates confidence.

>> I move forward with an abundance of strength and courage.

>> Every action step I take is surrounded with the energy of self-belief and confidence.

>> I have all the stamina I need for my day and for my dreams.

Mystical Juggling Exercise IV: Sound Healing.

I’d like you to do one more thing for me. Whether you sing in tune or out of tune, I would like you to send a deep low tone down to the areas within your first chakra.

Send the sound to the soles of your feet, the base of your spine, your pelvic area, the first three vertebrae, colon, and bladder. Project your voice and make the sound healing vibration last for a while, and when you run out of breath, take another breath and project your sound again. There are no wrong notes and no bad voices. Sound healing is simply an expression of your uniqueness and your own personal vibration.

Leave any critical inner judge of your voice on a planet far away from here.

Because we are using lots of techniques at one time, I call my approach to chakra healing mystical juggling. As you integrate my first chakra exercises in a sitting, standing, or laying position, use active visualization, color therapy, positive affirmations, energy healing, and sound healing as transformational paths to well-being and personal growth.

Integrate the exercises any time your spirit moves you. I even do my chakra visualizations in the shower (don’t picture that), and by the time I’m done, I feel a positive shift toward more inner peace, strength, confidence, courage, and emotional balance.

Revving up your chakras will help you live your time on Earth with more moments of healing and hope.

More than anything else, it will help you to know…

You are loved.
