It’s been a year
A year of choas
Of change and fear

Where we came together
But from far apart
Joined not by touch
But by the heart

A year that certainly
Was like no other
And now it’s time
To slowly recover

As despite it all
The world still turned
And we’ll forever remember
The lessons we learned

How amazing we are
When faced with storms
Finding a way through
Adapting to new norms

And we’ll never forget
All those we lost
As we regain freedom
It comes at such cost

Now there’s new hope
As things open again
Excitement in the air
That’s hard to contain

So we move forward
An end in sight
So much darkness
Now finally the light

It’s been 12 months
Lockdown after lockdown
But now there’s life
Out in the town

The sounds of laughter
Garden visits in the rain
Those incredible moments
Seeing loved ones again

And just like that
It’s been a year
But now we know
What we hold dear
